“Books: Bridging the Gap”
A donation of kids’ books in 2003 has accelerated to a half-million books donated to low-income children across New Jersey. Abby Daly, Founder & Executive Director of Bridge of Books Foundation, shares her passion to create ongoing and equal access to books for children across all income levels.
“At times, I can honestly say that the whole “TEDxNavesink experience” was one of the more grueling experiences in my life. However, I never backed off because I knew that I had an important story to tell. From the start, I viewed the chance to do a TEDxNavesink talk as an opportunity to bring a whole new level of attention to Bridge of Books Foundation and the importance of our role in our community over the long term. I believe that my talk gets the reaction I wanted – one of emotion, which is where I believe action often starts. I am proud of what I accomplished.”
Abby Daly is the Founder and Executive Director of the Bridge of Books Foundation, an all-volunteer non-profit organization, which has distributed nearly a half-million books to underserved children throughout New Jersey since 2003. In July 2014, Abby’s work was recognized when she was named a “New Jersey Hero” by the New Jersey Heroes initiative (founded and chaired by NJ First Lady Mary Pat Christie). Formerly, she was an attorney with the State of New Jersey, where she pursued mental health and children’s rights cases.
