“TEDx comes to the Jersey Shore during a pivotal time in our history. Following a catastrophic hurricane, communities across the region have been faced with reinventing homes, economies and their way of life. The day is sure to inspire an exciting exchange of conversation and compassion that spur a range of human emotion. New Jersey residents know another storm is inevitable. What they may not know is that our homegrown speakers have the innovation and creativity we need as a state to weather the next big hit.”
Jennifer Smiga is a Publicist and Marketer specializing in compelling client stories, not sales pitches. She’s also a martial artist (ninja status since age 8), mom to a comedian and a forever sweet tooth. She launched the social pr and marketing agency Marketing Rival with Shannon Winning in 2015 to help businesses make a digital connection with the customers and clients who need their products and services. At Rival, she partners with companies and organizations to create a digital presence – blogging, social media, email, public relations and onsite lead generation – by harnessing their own industry knowledge. The digital space provides level ground for companies to stake their claim, regardless of size, as market leaders attracting the brightest talent and customers with marketing insights, creative storytelling, and social relationships. In this digital age, it’s not the size of the company that determines if its message is heard, but the power of the message and the knowledge of where (and how) it’s shared.
Since 2010, Jennifer has owned and operated inBLOOM Communications, a boutique pr and marketing company, that integrates marketing, public relations, event production, and social media marketing for entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders. She is also a SCORE consultant for business leaders in need of guidance developing their marketing, public relations, and donor development campaigns. For the past 17 years, she has worked with the country’s leading nonprofit organizations and companies including Bette Midler’s New York Restoration Project, Aveda, Whole Foods Market, Goldman Sachs Community Teamworks, Center for Reproductive Law & Policy, Polycor, TEDxNavesink, and the Miami Art Museum.
