Ten years ago I began collecting non-recyclable items that were destined for the landfill in an attempt to ease my ecological footprint and simultaneously focus my creative impulses. The objects I work with have changed over the years as a result of place and friends who are willing to “donate” to my collections of the inexhaustible resource that is trash.
My sculptures have ranged from absurd mobiles, lamps and busts to realistic depictions of birds, people, animals and food. In general the sculpture is dictated by the objects I have accrued and in the best of times, whim. My work is always evolving and I appreciate working in a medium both versatile and free. I grow vegetables, plants and biodiversity in the Spring, Summer and Fall and sculptures in the winter.
